Our Thinking: The disappearing art of traditional sign writing

In our work , we tend to approach things scientifically.

We’re meticulous about how we design the signage in our wayfinding strategy. In our modern era, we kind of have to be.

That doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate and sit in awe of the more ‘old fashioned’ things.

One of these things is artisan sign writing. 

I’ve loved this film for many years. I come back and watch it regularly as a reminder it’s worth taking the time to do something slowly and joyfully. For these guys, it’s especially poignant as traditional sign writing is a dying art form, but one they’re trying to keep alive.

Sit back and enjoy. I’d say you’ll probably be pretty thirsty afterwards.
