ID-LAB worked in collaboration with Schmidt Hammer Lassen and Architectus on the State Library of Victoria’s Vision 2020 redevelopment, which brought about the transformation of Australia’s oldest and busiest public library. The project’s estimated cost of $88.1 million enabled the expansion of the facility’s function, increasing public space within the facility by 40 per cent.  The Library now provides open, accessible and inclusive space for all ages and cultural backgrounds.

The wayfinding strategy deals with a number of diverse visitor groups; high school and university students, researchers, Australian and overseas tourists. Each group knows, expects and wants something different from the wayfinding. We developed a strategy that caters for each group. Next to this, the signage design works with both the historic areas and the completely renewed areas. This was recognised through the Australian Graphic Design Association's Distinction Award for wayfinding.
